What to Expect
This weeklong mixed media retreat is an invitation to slow down, experiment, and follow your curiosity without worrying about outcomes. We’ll work with a range of materials and processes—layering, mark-making, collage, drawing, and paint. The goal being to discover and play —not to “finish” anything.
Each day balances guided prompts with open studio time, encouraging playful risk-taking, focused exploration, and honest expression. Through gentle structure, individual guidance, and supportive group conversations, you’ll learn how to stay present with the work, listen to your instincts, and let your voice reveal itself through experimentation. This retreat is about reconnecting with curiosity, trusting the process, and remembering that discovery (not perfection) is where the most meaningful work begins.
About the Instructor
Antrese is an artist and teacher who believes curiosity is more useful than certainty and that good work usually starts with a little mess. With decades of experience as a working artist, she helps artists experiment, explore, and trust what they are discovering instead of trying to get it “right.” Her teaching focuses on presence, play, and paying attention to what actually happens on the page. In person, her workshops are known for being focused but relaxed, thoughtfully structured, and refreshingly human, with just enough guidance to keep things moving and plenty of room for discovery.
